You know, the 986 was one of the most underrated tractors IH made. I had one… quickly traded it for a 1086 but in hindsight, I would have been better of dropping down from a 5-20’s plow to a 4-20’s and 18′ disc. Quite a savings in money.
Duals are a pain to put on but easy to take off. I’ve found that the mowing job is better a week later without duals pushing down all the extra vegetation. I used to custom mow CRP with a 4620 Deere and a Rhino 20 ft Flex mower with Cat 5 CV drivelines.
I grew up loving the 1066 and 966 I definitely going to have it in the future of my collection of toys I got an 88 1855 Beast I love with 2500 hours and a Farmall m my John Deere a I do got to say Oliver finest n farm machinery super good balers super good tractors super good plows super good waukeshaws good efficiency fuel you can’t beat The Sweet Sound of that six cylinder even if you’re not an Oliver guy you got to admit even if you don’t admit they are the best sweetest sound and tractor way ahead of anybody in the 50s and 60s
