That is wicked cool. I read – I think it was a new U-Boat 212 maybe – that uses a Stirling Cycle Engine as an Air Independent Propulsion system. I don’t think it’s a particularly efficient engine but it’s super quiet and allows much much more endurance submerged. What I’m wondering is how does the “throttle” work? I wouldn’t think more or less fire would be the way to go cos that strikes me as likely to be way too sluggish for maneuvering a warship.
Amazing little machine! How far can it go on a single run? It sounds cool while running!
