Laura, just a suggestion from a 12 year driver: once you get in the highest gear on the low side of the transmission, (4th if you’re in the nine speed), go ahead and flip your range selector up before shifting to the next higher gear rather than waiting to do it when in neutral. You can do the same thing when downshifting, too. Once you’ve gotten to the lowest gear on the high side, (5th on your nine speed), flip your range selector down before you take it out of gear to go to the low side. It saves just a half second or so but it makes the transition smoother. Plus, it’s one less thing to have to do while you’re trying to find where the next gear is.
